Eligibility

Have a disability or health condition that prevents you from using fixed-route public transit (bus or train) for some or all trips; Be certified by the RTA ADA Paratransit Certification Program; Live in or be traveling within Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, or Will Counties; Use from/to locations must be within the service area of fixed route (or within 3/4 mile of those routes in suburban areas) and during the times fixed-route services run.

Application process

(1) Download an application from the Pace website, call the RTA at 312‑663‑HELP (4357) to request a paper or accessible format, or pick one up in person. Accessible formats include large print, Braille, and audio. (2) Complete and submit the application by sending it to the RTA via mail, fax, or email (instructions are on the application). (3) Participate in eligibility review. You may be asked to provide documentation from a medical professional or participate in an interview to confirm eligibility. (4) Once approved, you’ll get an ADA Paratransit ID card, which you’ll use to schedule rides and, for eligible riders, access free fixed-route bus service.
